Ethos and Values

 

At The Phoenix School, we are not all the same!  Together we are a rich and diverse community where differences are accepted, respected and celebrated. 

We have high expectations.  At our school, we want everyone to 'Smile, Reach and Succeed' beyond their potential so that they are well prepared for life outside school. 

Through our curriculum ,  our pupils are encouraged to question, discuss and make decisions.  They are allowed to have opinions, to take safe risks and make mistakes.  Pupils learn about right and wrong and understand that structures and rules are there to help us to live, learn and work together in a society where everyone feels safe.

Our school community extends far beyond the school building and includes parents, families,  therapists, medical staff, other professionals, friends and visitors.  It is important to us that everyone in our school  feels able to express themselves within a climate of  trust, tolerance and respect.  

Led by a  Governing Body committed to school improvement and to promoting the safety and welfare of children, we welcome compliments, observations and  challenge.   Information on how to do this is available for the school office.

We want learning to be fun. We want everyone to enjoy being part of our school community and to feel safe, valued and respected within an inclusive school where equality of opportunity is promoted and difference is celebrated. We want our families to feel confident and supported and we want everyone to have a voice.

Reach

We want to work closely with our families so that our children are at the heart of everything we do. We want our staff to be motivated to think outside the box in providing a stimulating, challenging and appropriate curriculum so that every child is enabled to reach their full potential and learn purposeful skills for life.

Succeed

We want our children to succeed within a positive and rewarding community environment where high expectations, consistency, boundaries and structures enable them to become confident and independent learners at home and at school and where every small step of success is recognised and celebrated.
