Short Breaks

Phoenix Short Breaks

What are Short Breaks?
Our Short Breaks allow a disabled young person to have an enjoyable break away from their main carer and give their carer a break from their caring responsibilities. Is your child eligible?
  • Short Breaks core offer is for young people who: are 0 - 17 years old, members of Stay & Play or who attend Phoenix School, have an SEN statement or receive DLA at the middle rate or above and due to your disability, cannot access leisure services in your area.
  • Children who do not receive direct payment or any other social services respite care, will be considered in the first round.
  • Children who receives direct payment or social services respite care for more than 6 hours a week will still be considered, but they will only be offered a place if one is available after all the children from the first round have been placed.
  • Places are offered subject to staffing, safety and if we can meet the needs of the child.
  • Contributing factor will also be transportation and on how many trips they have already been on.
  • The steering group will treat all applications on a fair and none judgemental basis and their decision is final.
  • If you fail to attend, this may jeopardise future placements.
